Rape and sexual assault are about power. These actions are about domination and suppression.

As this post notes, you can’t make someone empathetic or care. There is nothing that will make Trump and the Republicans care abut sexual assault. After all, we have the sexual assaulter in chief in the White House.

What does make a difference is money and political power. The more power women have economically, the more power they will have in other areas.

As this post notes, fighting rape and sexual assault is not enough. There must also be a fight for pay equality and support of women in politics.

There is far to go. The bitter truth is that change happens slowly. It was not that long ago that women were the property of their father and then their husband.

This is the best time in human history to be a woman, if you are fortunate enough to live in the western world. A core reason that women’s rights have advanced is the ability to control pregnancy and enter professions that have higher pay.

The Republicans would like to remove a women’s right to control her body and remove the laws that help protect equal pay.

Get out and vote. Voting is the only hope we have (however thin).
