Regardless of the credit card, it can be difficult getting a new card if you're a remote worker.
I work remotely as a software engineer for US companies as an employee of a foreign company that my wife and I own. This has US federal tax advantages. But a problem is that although I am fortunate to earn a good income, I don't show up on the usual credit reports.
We applied for an American Airlines credit card. The credit limit was so low that we often don't have enough to get American Airlines plane tickets for my wife and I. So, ironically, we buy the American Airlines tickets with our United Airlines card.
A few notes about finance and being an ex-pat:
- Get a US mailing address through an on-line service that will scan your mail.
- Get a brokerage account while you are in the US. If you have an overseas address this will not be possible.
